StarTree – products from European forests in the spotlight
Funded under the 7th Framework Programme of the European Commission, 24 partners from countries all over Europe conducted research on the use of so-called Non-Wood Forest Products (NWFP) such as berries, cork and truffles. The objective of the project was to gather in-depth information on the production and marketing conditions of NWFP with the aim of opening up additional sources of income for structurally weak regions.
“The overall objective of StarTree is to provide a holistic analysis of the European NWFP sector and its potential to support rural development for the benefit of SMEs, forest managers and policy makers.”
PlanSinn was commissioned to ensure a targeted and efficient internal and external flow of information, designed to promote the interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary dialogue between researchers and stakeholders – employing creative formats for knowledge exchange, advising on methods and processes and providing made-to-measure guidelines for the involvement of stakeholders.
