Apprenticeship and Research

About half of all young people in Austria are apprentices, yet in culture and science-related projects they are usually overlooked as a target group. The "Apprenticeship and Research" project initiated a communication process to bridge the gap between the interests and concerns of apprentices and the approaches and methods taken for granted by academic researchers. All in all, more than 120 apprentices were involved in the project.

Turning science on its head
What constitutes proof? Can numbers talk? Why are limits and boundaries important? What makes knowledge true? These are just a few of the many questions researched and analysed as part of the "Apprenticeship and Research" project. In a series of six workshops, apprentices from various different sectors and researchers from the University of Vienna and Vienna University of Economics and Business discussed topics from the fields of mathematics, economics, the social sciences, political science, feminist theory and scientific theory.
