1000th anniversary of the Vienna Woods
The objective in the anniversary year was to highlight the importance of the Vienna Woods themselves as well as showcasing what the City of Vienna does on their behalf in an informative, entertaining way appropriate for the respective target groups.
Under the motto "The invisible Vienna Woods", ten "focus boards" were installed at sites of special interest to highlight places and topics that have received relatively little attention to date. An anniversary celebration on Rathausplatz brought the Vienna Woods into the city centre, with join-in attractions for young and old including a 1:1000 scale model, a wild boar race, a forest nature trail and birdsong karaoke. PlanSinn also designed and led guided tours of the Vienna Woods for school groups, introducing children to a wide range of forest-related topics through play and sensory experience. PlanSinn was also responsible for the conceptual design, editing and layout of the Vienna Woods booklet published by Municipal Department MA 49 (Forestry Office and Urban Agriculture). which presents unusual photographic views of the Vienna Woods accompanied by out-of-the-ordinary stories, fascinating facts and poetic texts to show the Woods from a different angle.
